What’s the most embarrassing song in your Playlist?
The entire soundtrack to the original stage version of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
Who is your favorite storyteller?
Earlier in my career, I did sound design production for Focus on the Family’s “Adventures in Odyssey.” There I enjoyed the artful story telling of Paul McCusker. He has a unique gift of crafting stories that inspire both children and adults.
Most amazing encounter with someone in need?
Shortly after I joined i58:10 Media, I interviewed a homeless man who looked old and especially tired and disheveled. The lines and stress on his face told a story before he even began to speak. He mentioned he had graduated from high school the same year I had. That shocked me. I realized that there are men exactly my age whose lives have taken a bad turn and now they are living on the streets. It served as a stark reminder to pray for them.
Describe your family?
I’ve been married to Cheryl, my college sweetheart, for more than 30 years. She’s an elementary teacher. We have two grown daughters, Emily and Anna, who live nearby. Emily works as a horse trainer and riding instructor; Anna is working as a magazine editor. We have one terrier dog — and 5 terror cats.
What is one quote that has had a big impact on your life?
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility of mind consider others more important than yourselves.”
– Philippians 2:3
