Hope Ackermann | Creative Director
What’s your most embarrassing song currently in your Playlist?
“The Elmo Slide,” which is apparently by Elmo. It’s my niece’s favorite song, so I had to download it.
Who is your favorite storyteller?
My dad. He’s a scholar of church history and the Bible, and is an incredibly gifted teacher and storyteller. I’ll never be too old to enjoy listening to him tell stories of little-known heroes of the faith.
Most amazing encounter with someone in need?
Few things have messed with my comfortable Western brain like seeing child mothers. My oldest sister runs an organization called Safe Refuge International that assists women and children coming out of human trafficking.
One girl I got to know while working with my sister in the slums of Manila was 9 years old and maybe 4 feet, 5 inches tall. She came to the shelter nine months pregnant, with nowhere to go. I watched that little girl try to care for her baby girl with all of the love in her little heart, and it broke mine. But it also pushed me to want to raise money so girls like her had meals to eat and a place to call home.
Why do you do what you do for i58:10 Media?
I am the creative director, and an on air host for our fundraising events. I manage the creative messaging and direction for our events, videos, and products.
Describe your family?
I’m married to the wonderful Joseph Ackermann. We have a lab named Obadiah (Obi). We love worshipping, hiking, and adventuring.
What is one quote that has had a big impact on your life?
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
